My name is Angela Sather
I was motivated to
write the poem
“A Life Reclaimed” due to my anger and frustration over
my situation. I felt so many negative emotions, and I was scared to
express them to my friends and family because I didn't want to subject
them to the depths of the horror that I was experiencing.
Writing has
always been a safe outlet for me, so during my darkest days I picked up
a pen and began writing something...and
it eventually turned into this poem!
I would like young women to know that they are not alone in this fight.
I often felt very isolated because of my age. It is important for all
of us to share our courageous stories of battle and triumph with each
other.
I was empowered by other survivors' stories and experiences, and
I hope that other women will discover their own strengths, while feeling
supported and empowered by my story.
